19 of Medvedev's twenty-one championships have been won on hard surfaces

A comeback the Russian player claimed his initial trophy for over two years with victory over Corentin Moutet in the tournament title decider.

The Russian, a ex- world number one, has experienced a difficult year, achieving just one win at the major tournaments and experiencing a difficult moment at the US Open.

His inconsistency on the professional circuit - and difficulties with his service game in particular - resulted in him exiting of the world's top 10 and eventually parting ways with long-time coach Gilles Cervara.

Now collaborating with Johansson and his other coach, he has gradually advanced in the recent weeks - culminating in a hard-fought three-set victory over challenger Moutet.

It is Medvedev's first championship after the Rome competition and initial on a hard surface since March of that year.

Success also indicates the Russian has achieved 21 titles at 21 various competitions.

"For the first time I am participating in a competition with my two daughters together, so to secure a championship is particularly special," stated world number 14 Daniil Medvedev.

"This title is in tribute of my second daughter her name, because the first title I won when my child Alisa was born was for her."

Medvedev, the 2021 US Open champion, had been defeated in his previous six finals, featuring in Halle previously this season.

The player's defensive play style and frequent emotional displays on the playing surface had caused commentators to question if his capacity to play at the elite level was concluded.

But the player has altered his approach in the past month, striving to come to the net and perform aggressively, reinforced by an improved serve.

The champion recovered from a deficit in the initial set against the challenging opponent, winning four of the last five games to go ahead.

The competitors traded service breaks in the following set before the challenger, bidding for his first ATP Tour victory, seized the initiative to create a third set.

Moutet saved four early-game opportunities in a close third set before the Russian broke to fifteen to serve for the match.

Appropriately, Medvedev earned victory with a rally at the net area, with the Frenchman unable to control a return after over two and a half hours.
